Paint Party was an interactive installation developed for the 2016 Google I/O Developer Conference. I worked on this for Deeplocal, who was commissioned by Droga5 to build this project. I led the development of the robot side software to handle motion and communication to the arm. Block party enables the participant to control and position a 5’ x 5’ x 5’ cube so that they can throw paint on the cube via a robotic arm. With an android phone, the user can rotate the cube on two axes, choose a color, and at the flick-of-a-wrist have the robot throw paint at the cube. Due to the speed limitations of the robot, I designed and built a special pneumatic catapult that was mounted at the end of the arm so that the robot could throw the paint fast enough to reach the cube.
