The Netflix Socks were the second project in the Netflix Make It campaign. It worked by monitoring the movements of your leg to figure out when you've fallen asleep. After it detects that you've fallen asleep, it pauses your your show, so that you don't miss out on the rest of that episode. I worked on the team that built up and assembled the electronics package for this project. Since we wanted the socks to be made easily by anyone, we used all consumer electronics parts from place like Adafruit and Sparkfun. The system contains an accelerometer for detecting movement, infrared LEDs to control the television, a battery for power, and the micro-controller to run the system.
